Nancy Fares
President and CEO
Nancy joined the Micralyne team in 2010 as President and CEO. With her comes an extensive education; Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Texas. and a Master’s in Science in Telecommunication from Southern Methodist University. In addition to her formal training she also brings diverse MEMS industry experience. Specifically, Nancy has held several key roles within the Texas Instruments Corporation. Her more recent position, General Manager in the TI DLP Division, oversaw the DLP Cinema and DLP HDTV business units that enabled impressive growth of the 3D movie genre.
Nancy is proficient in bringing new technologies to market through her leadership and customer focused strategies. Within her role she is looking to leverage Micralyne’s strength in engineering, manufacturing expertise and the company’s continued customer
focus to ensure each are successful in reaching project goals as well as market growth
potential.
Derek Hudson
Chief Financial Officer
Derek joined Micralyne as Chief Financial Officer in 1997. He is responsible for managing all finance, administrative, human resources, taxation, and legal affair activities and serves as corporate secretary. Derek knows Micralyne inside and out; he has been a customer account manager and has conducted leadership training for Micralyne staff. Before joining Micralyne, Derek spent 12 years with Price Waterhouse, first as an auditor and then as a consultant in financial management, business strategy, and information systems. Derek is actively involved in all areas of Micralyne, but focuses on increasing efficiency and profitability. A chartered accountant, Derek has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta since 1987.
Alan Richards
Vice President, Operations
Alan joined Micralyne in 2007 and is responsible for manufacturing, product delivery, product quality, Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities, Equipment Engineering, IT and Supply Chain, along with product development into manufacturing and back-end operations. Alan has an extensive background in microelectronics and semiconductor manufacturing, gained in over 25 years of experience with several leading companies in the high-tech sector.
Prior to joining Micralyne, Alan held senior management and executive positions at successful global companies such as Inmos, Intel, ST-Micro, Gennum Corporation. Alan has had many successes and has gained awards in maintenance practices, including winning the Canadian Maintenance/ Engineering Manager Award, Best Maintained Facility Award, and Best Maintenance Team Award, presented by Price
Waterhouse Coopers exhibiting skills in facility management, engineering management,
and profitability. Alan holds an MBA from University of Wales, Cardiff and a Degree in
Operations Management. He is a Senior Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Yan Loke
Vice President, Engineering
Yan joined Micralyne in December 2002 and is responsible for managing all customer-driven and internally defined development projects. Together with his engineering team comprising of both development and process engineers, he is in charge of all aspects of a project – starting from feasibility to production. He also ensures Micralyne has the technical and engineering resources to expand its position as a market-leading provider of MEMS technology.
Prior to joining Micralyne, Yan was the MEMS Foundry Manager for the optical switch manufacturer OMM Inc. in San Diego, California where he was responsible for all the external foundries supplying the wafers. Prior to that, he was a Member of the Technical Staff at the Institute of Microelectronics in Singapore. In addition to managing the Sensor Fabrication Facility, he was involved in the fabrication of various
devices such as microphones, micro relays, accelerometers and pressure sensors.
David Buckley
Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Product Line Management
David joined Micralyne in 2007 as Director of Product Line Management for Optical Devices. His background is in product development, product management, and commercialization with JDSU, Nortel, Kymata (now Gemfire) and a number of high-tech start-ups.
David has a proven track record in addressing the breadth of a customer’s requirements and delivering customer-oriented solutions. He ensures that Micralyne maintains a client-centred focus and that the company evolves to meet customers’ changing requirements. David holds a PhD and Bachelor of Science from the University of Bath, England.
