Micralyne Appoints Vice President Marketing and Business Development


Edmonton, Alberta, October 19, 2000 - As part of its ongoing growth strategy, Micralyne has announced the appointment of Sandra Katz to the newly created position of Vice President, Marketing and Business Development.

Ms. Katz, previously Micralyne's Director of Marketing, Biosystems, will have responsibility for managing corporate communications, product planning and product management, as well as working with the management team to chart the strategic direction of the corporation. "During the short time that Sandra has been here since joining us in February, she has overseen the re-branding of the company that began in July of this year, and has worked successfully to identify new opportunities that will strengthen and maintain Micralyne's market leadership position" said Chris Lumb, President and CEO of the company.

Prior to joining Micralyne, Ms. Katz spent sixteen years in biotechnology and related industries, during which she gained extensive experience in strategic planning and development, commercialization and promotion. She managed her own biopharmaceutical consulting company, Stonewood Biomarketing, and held product and marketing management positions at companies that included Biomira, an Edmonton-based biotechnology company specializing in the development of cancer therapeutics, and Millipore, a multi-national corporation based in Boston, where Ms. Katz had international responsibility for the management of key product lines in the life science area.
