Micralyne Appoints Director of Business Development to Expand Push into Telecommunications Market


Edmonton, Alberta, February 12, 2001 - Micralyne Inc., as part of its growth strategy to expand further into the telecommunications industry, announced today the appointment of Mr. Bruce Alton as Director of Business Development, Telecommunications.

Mr. Alton will have the responsibility for leading Micralyne's marketing efforts into the telecommunications industry and will focus on securing new optical networking and other telecommunications product development opportunities.

Mr. Alton has over 12 years of experience in the business development and venture capital industries and was most recently President of Blackbird Ventures Inc., a firm focused on the start-up and financing of technology-based companies. He was also co-founder and President of Blackstone Multimedia Corporation, one of the first Internet/multimedia development companies established in Alberta.

Mr. Alton is also very active in the community and is currently Chair, Taxation & Financing Committee of the Alberta Economic Development Authority; Chair, Technology & Broadcast Divisions for the 2001 8th World Championships in Athletics and is a former member of the Board of Directors of Economic Development Edmonton.
