Micralyne Reports Large MEMS Order from Automotive Sector
Edmonton, Alberta, May 28, 2002 - Micralyne Inc. announced today a major order with Kavlico Corporation, a tier one automotive supply company based in Moorpark, California. The contract requires Micralyne to manufacture MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical-systems) components for the emission control systems of gas-powered Ford automobiles. This new order will significantly add to Micralyne's revenues and broaden the company's MEMS-based product offering.
"This order is another example of our leadership in the MEMS industry," commented Chris Lumb, President and CEO of Micralyne. "In the past we concentrated on the telecommunications and biosystems industries and this order illustrates how we have successfully transferred our core MEMS development and manufacturing capabilities into a new market area. Despite the general downturn in the economy and in the telecommunications space in particular, our revenues continue to grow and we see the automotive space as an opportunity to not only increase but diversify our revenue base."
"We faced a tremendous amount of scrutiny from Kavlico and Ford personnel as they assessed our process engineering, quality assurance and manufacturing capabilities," said Mr. Len Friedenberg, Vice President, Operations for Micralyne. "The resulting order is a real testament to the expertise of our people and the maturity of our MEMS manufacturing processes."
"Micralyne's well-established quality assurance processes provides us with the confidence that this will be a successful long-term business relationship. We look forward to working with Micralyne on an ongoing basis," noted Mr. Rick Hubbard, Executive Vice President of Kavlico.
"Another key success factor for us is clearly our stable, but growing, business operation," added Lumb. "Unlike many of our competitors, Micralyne has demonstrated ongoing revenue and profitability growth. This allows us to concentrate on the needs of our clients and, in turn, they don't have to be worried about our financial viability today and in the long-term."
