Micralyne and Polychromix Announce Manufacturing Partnership

Edmonton, Alberta, May 10, 2007 – Micralyne Inc., an industry leading independent Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS) microfabrication company, announced today a partnership with Polychromix, a leading developer of innovative inspection and analysis tools, to manufacture MEMS near-infrared (NIR) devices for the revolutionary Polychromix Phazir™ product line.

The Phazir™ is a handheld device that can perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of materials directly at their source—the first of its kind in the industry. The Phazir™ combines Digital Transform Spectroscopy (DTS™), an innovative technique, with MEMS technology to reduce large, stationary analytical laboratory instruments into one handheld, NIR analyzer. Manufactured at Micralyne, these MEMS devices can be mass-produced, resulting in low-cost and extremely robust and reproducible products. In addition, the MEMS engine is an electrostatic device, minimizing power usage and maximizing battery life.

The Phazir™’s lightweight portability streamlines quality control and quality assurance processes, while retaining high-speed analysis, pinpoint accuracy, and operational endurance (over ten hours of continuous use before needing to recharge the battery). The Phazir™ can be software configured for a variety of applications, including recycling, inspection of incoming raw materials, analysis of agriculture properties, fraud identification, and forensics.
